Philip M. Epstein and Kenneth Cole founded Epstein Cole in 1978 as a boutique litigation firm. As the firm’s family law practice grew, Philip and Ken recognized that this area of law was multi-disciplinary, highly reputation-based and critical to the fabric of social justice.
Epstein Cole has been instrumental in shaping family law in Canada through representation in precedent-setting cases, law reform and decades of educating and mentoring family law practitioners. We have a long-standing tradition of giving back through speaking and teaching, service work on various not-for-profit/charitable boards, chairing of legal programs nationally, committee work and partnering on initiatives to enhance access to justice for family law litigants.
We have also been at the forefront of alternate dispute resolution development in the family law field.
Several former lawyers of our firm have been appointed as Superior Court Justices: Justice Roger Timms, Justice Susanne Goodman, Justice Lene Madsen, Justice Sharon Shore and most recently, Justice Melanie Kraft.
