Bio

With exceptional writing skills as the foundation of her litigation and negotiation work, Joelle is an effective and result-oriented advocate for her clients. Although she will most often strive for cooperation and collaboration between the parties to reach sustainable, cost-effective and child-focused resolutions, Joelle understands that the court process may be a necessary adjunct to resolving disputes and advocates ethically and zealously.

Joelle is sensitive to the unavoidable psychological and emotional aspects of divorce. It is a priority for Joelle to help her clients navigate the stress and uncertainty of relationship breakdowns by linking short-term decision making with long-term strategies for her clients.

As a partner at Epstein Cole, Joelle can assist with all aspects of family law including high-conflict parenting disputes, complex financial resolutions and planning and support matters. She provides representation to clients in negotiations, court actions and in mediation/arbitration dispute resolution processes.

Joelle’s previous experience as a clerk for the Senior Family Justice and the Judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice has given her valuable insight into the preferences and decision-making process of judges who preside over family law cases.

Joelle completed the Screening for Power Imbalances Including Intimate Partner Violence training in 2021.  Joelle is also a Chair at the University of Toronto, University Tribunal which hears academic disciplinary matters.

Joelle feels a strong sense of responsibility to ensure that you have the proper legal advice, and an understanding of the impact of legal strategies, to make decisions that are best for you and your family. You will benefit from her concrete, cost-conscious, practical and compassionate legal counsel to guide you through your family law issues.
