Shwetha Pai to Begin Articling Placement

Following her 6 month Internship with Epstein Cole

We are very pleased that Shwetha has secured a family law articling position with Nussbaum Law in Toronto!

Shwetha received her Bachelor in Laws from Mumbai University in India and practised as an associate lawyer for 3 years in Family Law, Real Estate and Estate Planning prior to moving to Toronto to seek admission to the Ontario Bar.  Shwetha obtained her Masters in Canadian Common Law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2020.

Coming to practice in Ontario from a foreign jurisdiction posed challenges to Shwetha in securing a family law articling position.   We designed a 6-month paid intern position to allow Shwetha to shadow our lawyers and work on matters as she familiarizes herself with Ontario Family Law Rules and Forms, Provincial and Federal family law and our court system as well law firm operations, technology and systems.  We were also able to compare cultural differences in the way that lawyers correspond with each other and how judges conduct their courts and courtrooms.

Shwetha speaks Hindi, Konkani and Marathi.

We thank Divorcemate for providing Shwetha with access to a free licence and training before she began her internship with us.

Epstein Cole is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and the mentoring of family law practitioners.
