Bio

With a deep understanding of family dynamics, Hilary is skilled at anticipating how interpersonal issues will impact the negotiation or litigation of complex family law matters. She excels at presenting her clients’ positions in compelling ways to ensure that their rights are understood and protected. A formidable advocate, Hilary provides a range of practical legal solutions to address her clients’ unique family law matters efficiently and with dignity.

As an associate at Epstein Cole, Hilary’s practice encompasses all aspects of family law including marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, custody and access, support claims, division of property and complex financial issues. Hilary takes a practical and solution-oriented approach to the issues her clients' face, and regularly advocates for clients through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and at Court. As a member of Epstein Cole's student committee, Hilary is involved in interviewing potential candidates.

Hilary joined Epstein Cole  as an associate after summering and articling with the firm.  Hilary spent a one year secondment as the acting Program Manager with the Pro Bono Students Canada Family Justice Centre between August 2021 and September 2022. 

Hilary’s background in Adult Development and Family Studies gave her crucial exposure to working with vulnerable populations. She was heavily involved with the University of Toronto's legal clinic, Downtown Legal Services, in both the Refugee and Family Law divisions. She now uses those skills to be the strong, empathetic voice of clients who struggle through the difficulties of separation and divorce.
